Coast to Coast - Cycling across the USofA

Back to basics, the minimal kit list!

Introduction...... Live diary from the road...... Words and pictures...... Statistics

You really don't need very much to be self sufficient in a warm climate. When I first went touring, many
years ago, I took far too much stuff; since then it has been whittled down to pretty much the bare
minimum, although with a few little luxuries! For this trip I shelled out for a new tent and sleeping bag;
not cheap, but very good kit and very light! The bike, complete with three bottle cages, pump, rack,
mudguards, rear LED light, computer and tools, weighed 27lbs. The kit here, loaded in the bags, also
weighed in at 27lbs, making for about a 60lb total load once full bottles and food was added.

Panniers: Vaude waterproof front, pair (but fitted on rear rack)
